Re: Ride Free Card

I'm the father of an 85 racer that enjoys riding and racing a lot. We (I say we because this is a combined effort) race some of D29, Ultra and outlaw. We're not going to be challenging the top riders very often but like to compete and set individual goals not based solely on finish position. I say this to illustrate that the free ride go or no go will unlikely mean somthing to us. But ther has got to be a sensible solution. I hear and understand both sides. On one, a promoter should not have to give away alot of free rides to riders that he thinks will not return. On the other hand that rider may return if he enjoys the track, and the promoter could look at it as a chance to gain turnout via word of mouth by thr rider.

Possible compromises:
Riders win a specified total free ride vouchers based on class and finish. i.e. 20 freebes for 1st in some classes 25 or 30 or less for other classes.
Maybe they win one or two free rides per track.
Maybe they get half price ride card.
We just want to have well run, well staffed (flagmen and emergency personel) tracks.

Talking Re: Ride Free Card

wouldn't the easy solution to this argument to issue the champion cards and have them be honored "at the following tracks" and they have the tracks listed on the back of the card.

Let the tracks choose who wants to honor them and who doesn't.

Even as someone who has had a ride free card 8 times, I realize it is a bonus and not something I should take for granted.

If I knew that weekend the card was or was not going to be honored, I would then choose if I would race or if I would practice, and where I would take the other three classes I pay for that weekend.

No harm no foul - if certain tracks do not wish to honor "the card" those of us who have them can choose to spend our $$$ elsewhere or ride there anyway.

Again, "the card" is a bonus, not a right.

Just please don't take it away!
